Blood Pressure Log

Heart attack or hypertension. People who are not too careful about their health are bound to suffer from this eventually. Research tells us that at least 610,000 people die because of heart disease in a year in the United States alone. Sad, isn’t it? Sometimes, it occurs naturally. But there are also times wherein it’s our fault that we suffer from heart disease. You may also see reading log for kids examples.

For starters, we suffer from heart disease because of the lack of maintenance that we do to our bodies. If we are not careful with what we eat and how we take care of ourselves, we may just end up dying even sooner than everyone thinks. So, how do we then preserve our health? Here are at least 10 ways how:

1. Walk and exercise regularly

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. But in this case, it is regular exercise. Try to picture this scenario in your head. We consume food at a daily basis, some more than others or even less than others.

Sure, our meals need to have the essentials: go, grow, and glow food. But of course, we like to cheat our diet from time to time. Splurge a bit as they say. We may think that we are still healthy just by looking at our stomach as to whether it is increasing in size to becoming a beer belly or not. But it is just too soon to say. We cannot just simply assume. We will have to be extra careful. Other than eating a proper and balanced diet, we have to remember that exercising is vital and essential to our bodies as it helps make your heart stronger and more efficient at pumping blood, which lowers the pressure in your arteries. 2. Reduce your sodium intake

Salt. We see it as one of the ingredients that is used to season food. There is a saying that too much of anything is not good. In this case, we should be careful on how much processed food we consume as they contain large amounts of sodium.

Should you have a case of high blood pressure at this time, try reducing your sodium intake and then you can feel the difference. Instead of eating so much processed and pre-prepared food (e.g., fast food), why don’t you try eating freshly prepared food made with love and care? Try cooking your own meals at home and you can even say that it would taste so much better. You may also check out monthly sheet examples & samples.

3. Drink less alcohol

Everyone needs to destress once in a while. Drinking alcohol is one of them. Whether it is from work or from school, they seem to drink the night away along with their troubles. But did you know that drinking alcohol can raise blood pressure? Especially when you tend to drink on a daily basis.

Once in a while is okay, but too much of it can actually kill you (eventually). It is only a problem when it becomes an addiction and one that you cannot control. Should it come to that, it might be best that you seek professional help from a rehab center or a doctor. Besides, there are other alternatives than alcohol that you can take when destressing yourself. You might be interested in score sheet examples & samples.

4. Eat more potassium-rich foods

Potassium, also represented by the symbol “K,” is an important mineral that is essential to your body. But what you do not know is that potassium helps your body get rid of sodium (represented by “Na” in the Periodic Table of Elements) and is able to ease pressure on your blood vessels. You may also see task sheet examples & samples.

Modern diets these days have increased most people’s sodium intake while decreasing potassium intake. But you should really consider switching up your diet to a more potassium-based one. Here are some of the foods that are particularly high in potassium:

  • Vegetables (e.g., leafy greens, tomatoes, potatoes, and sweet potatoes)
  • Fruit (melons, bananas, avocados, oranges, and apricots)
  • Dairy (e.g., milk and yogurt)
  • Tuna and salmon
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Beans

5. Learn to manage stress

We get stressed all the time: at work and at school. But it is usually up to us on how we learn to manage it. There are many ways on dealing with stress. Some people drink, some people smoke, some people eat ice cream, some people read a book, some people get a massage, etc. We all have our own individual and unique way of managing the daily stresses in our lives. But the question remains: Is the way you are relieving yourself safe and proper for your own body? If the answer is yes, then bombs away. If you do not think so, then try to find some other way of destressing yourself that won’t kill your body. Try these suggestions:

  • Listen to soothing music: Calming music can help relax your nervous system. Research has shown it’s an effective complement to other blood pressure therapies.
  • Work less: Working a lot, and stressful work situations in general, are linked to high blood pressure. You may also check out medication sheet examples & samples.

6. Quit smoking

Smoking kills people. If you read health bulletins and health warnings, they tell you that smoking does more than just give you cancer. And they are right, all the time. What happens to you when you realize that smoking has become an addiction that you cannot stop? Like cancer, it will start from the heart and work its way up until it destroys your entire body slowly but surely. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not wrong to smoke.
