What Is a Personality?
The personality is a list of enduring and hard-to-change characteristics and behavior that will affect one’s reactions, feelings, and actions in one’s life. The person’s personality has various factors that all have a bearing on the person’s adjustment, development, and adaptation to their everyday life and situations. No two-person will have the same personalities due to the need for unique experiences and perspectives to shape the personality.
How to Identify Various Elements and Aspects of One’s Personality
A person’s personality often manifests and affects a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Knowing the various elements of one’s personality allows the person to have room to change, reinforce, or remove a specific element of their personality. This will not only allow the person to grow, but it will also improve their state of life.
Step 1: Take a Personality Exam
One of the best ways to obtain a sliver of information about one’s personality is to take a personality exam that is scientifically proven. Just note that some personality tests incorporate broad terms that will apply to a large population of people and will not dissect specific parts of one’s personality.
Step 2: Write or Journal Private Thoughts and Experiences
Another way to identify various parts of a person’s personality is by journaling one’s thoughts and everyday experiences. The entries you will write will allow you to identify how you process information around you, the thought process of your actions, and one’s preferences. These will help you easily identify various elements of your personality.
Step 3: Identify One’s Traits and Behaviors
It is also important to put a name to various personality traits and behaviors you have observed in yourself. This will allow you to have a salient list you can use as a reference point for your personality, which will help improve one’s self-awareness.
Step 4: Ask Someone to Describe You
There are parts and sections of one’s personality that the person will not be able to observe in themselves. Therefore it is important to ask someone who you trust and care to describe your personality and behavior.
