Narrative

On August 25, 2023, at approximately 9:15 PM, I, Officer Angela Davis, was dispatched to 321 Elm Street in response to a report of a physical assault. Upon arrival, I spoke with the victim, David Lewis, who stated that he had been assaulted by Kevin Brown following a verbal altercation.

Lewis reported that he and Brown, who are acquaintances, were involved in an argument outside Sarah Johnson’s residence at 8:45 PM. The argument escalated when Brown pushed Lewis to the ground and punched him multiple times in the face. Lewis stated that he did not fight back and attempted to distance himself from Brown. The altercation ended when Sarah Johnson intervened and separated the two men.

I observed that Lewis had visible injuries, including a swollen eye, a cut on his lip, and redness on his cheek. Lewis declined medical assistance at the scene, though I advised him to seek medical attention for further evaluation.

I spoke with Sarah Johnson, a witness to the incident. She confirmed that she saw Brown initiate physical contact by pushing and striking Lewis. Johnson said that after separating the two men, Brown left the scene before the police arrived.

Brown’s location was unknown at the time of the report, but Lewis provided Brown’s home address for follow-up. Lewis was informed of his right to press charges for assault and was given a case number for reference.
