Dear Dr. Stanton,

I am writing to formally announce my resignation from my position as an English Teacher at Sunset High School, effective May 25, 2024. This decision was not made lightly and comes after careful consideration of my personal and professional growth opportunities.

I have been offered an opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in English Literature, a lifelong aspiration of mine. This advanced study will significantly enhance my skills and qualifications, allowing me to contribute more effectively to the educational field upon completion.

My time at Sunset High School has been incredibly fulfilling. I am grateful for the supportive environment, which has been instrumental in my development as an educator. Working alongside dedicated colleagues and engaging with the bright, enthusiastic minds of our students have enriched my professional experience immeasurably.

During the next few weeks, I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition. I will complete all current grading, prepare lesson plans, and assist in any way necessary to find and train my replacement. My goal is to leave my successor with a solid foundation to continue the great work being done in our English department.

I hope to carry forward everything I have learned here and apply it in new ways as I advance in my studies and career.
