Dear Ms. Matthews,

I am writing to formally resign from my position as a third-grade teacher at Sunset Elementary School, effective May 15, 2024. After careful consideration and consultation with my healthcare providers, I have decided to step down due to health issues that require my immediate and sustained attention.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sunset Elementary and am deeply saddened to leave under these circumstances. Working with my colleagues and students has been a profoundly fulfilling experience, and I am grateful for the support and camaraderie I have found in this community.

During the next month, I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition. I will finalize all outstanding grades, complete upcoming reports, and assist in any way possible to hand over my responsibilities cleanly and comprehensively. I am happy to help train my replacement and will ensure that all of my teaching materials are organized and accessible for whoever takes over my classes.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time. I am hopeful that my health will improve, allowing me to possibly return to teaching in some capacity in the future. Until then, I hope to stay in touch, and I look forward to seeing Sunset Elementary continue to succeed.
